Privacy Overview
UPI Box ("we", "our", or "us"), developed by StoryYell Private Limited, is dedicated to protecting the privacy of retail merchants, shopkeepers, and vendors. Our application turns your Android device into an offline voice payment soundbox for UPI transactions.
1. Information We Process
UPI Box operates with a privacy-by-design architecture. The application accesses only the minimum data required to deliver real-time payment voice alerts:
A. Incoming Payment Notifications
When you grant Notification Access, the app inspects notification alerts posted by authorized UPI payment applications (such as PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, BHIM, Amazon Pay, Navi, and bank credit SMS notifications). The app strictly extracts:
- The received credit payment amount (e.g., ₹100).
- The paying app or sender name (if present in the notification title/text).
Crucial Security Notice: Debit transactions, personal chat messages, passwords, OTPs, balance queries, and non-payment notifications are strictly ignored and discarded immediately from RAM memory without storage.
B. Local Transaction Ledger
Extracted payment records (amount, app source, and timestamp) are stored in a encrypted, private SQLite database situated on your device's local internal storage. This data is never synchronized to cloud servers.
2. Android Permissions & Purpose
To function as a background payment soundbox, UPI Box requests specific Android system permissions in strict accordance with Google Play Developer Policies:

3. Data Sharing & Third-Party Services
We do not sell, trade, rent, or share your financial, transaction, or personal data with any third party.
Third-Party SDK Integrations
To maintain application reliability across diverse mobile devices, we use limited, industry-standard Google SDKs:
- Firebase Remote Config: Periodically downloads updated regex parsing templates over HTTPS when UPI payment apps update their notification format. No user data is sent.
- Google Analytics for Firebase: Collects aggregated, non-personally identifiable diagnostic events (e.g., total count of announcements completed vs ignored, app crashes) to improve software stability. Financial values and sender details are strictly excluded from analytics payload.
4. Data Security & Your Rights
Your payment transaction history is stored locally in your phone's internal application storage.
How to Delete Your Data:
- Clear Application Storage: Go to
Settings → Apps → UPI Box → Storage & Cache → Clear Storageon your device to immediately delete all stored payment history. - App Uninstall: Uninstalling UPI Box permanently removes the local database and all associated settings from your device.
5. Children's Privacy
UPI Box is a financial tools application designed exclusively for commercial retail merchants and business owners. The service is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly process data from children.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect policy updates or changes in Android permissions. Any revisions will be published on this page with an updated "Effective Date".
